Mattie Carter 

Mattie T. Carter is a truly inspiring leader and the proud owner of Steer-liberty Consultant LLC, a vibrant minority-owned business based in the heart of Chicago, Illinois. With extensive experience in construction management and urban development, Mattie is passionately dedicated to uplifting her community. She plays an active role in initiatives like the 95th Corridor Community Table and has earned the honor of being named a 2023 Chicago Build Ambassador. Her influence also extends to the Halsted Chamber of Commerce and the Chicago State Board of Directors for the Alumni Association. Notably, she was recognized as one of the 100 Small Business Owners by the BeyGood Foundation, showcasing her commitment and impact.  

Growing up in Jeffery Manor on the Eastside of Chicago, Mattie developed her passion for community development from her beloved grandmother, Mattie Forte. This nurturing upbringing fueled her ambition to excel academically, leading her to graduate at the top of her class with a master’s degree in Geography Economic Development and certification as a Community Developer from Chicago State University in 2014. 

 Mattie is driven by a bold vision to transform housing solutions through the design and manufacturing of affordable, prefabricated homes. She wholeheartedly believes that every family deserves the luxury and energy efficiency of modern living, regardless of their financial circumstances. With her innovative modular designs, Mattie is set to tackle America's pressing housing shortage, paving the way for a brighter, more sustainable future for families everywhere.
